The Animated Series' Showrunner Has Seen Your Second Season Bingo Cards — And She Has Good News
The highly-awaited second season of the adult animated musical series Hazbin Hotel arrives on the streaming platform this week, and fan speculation has been widespread.
The first season presents a diverse group of characters living within the afterlife, pits them against each other accompanied by songs detailing their conflicts, and builds tense rivalries and angsty, affectionate connections that drive fan obsession.
The community's expectations for the new season vary widely, but certain themes emerge over and over: Will Angel Dust break free from Valentino? Will we find out more about the binding agreement affecting the enigmatic Alastor? Will [favorite character] and [other character] finally get together?
"Naturally, I don't produce the show with fan service as the main goal," the creator stated earlier this year. "But I believe that me being a fan of my own show means there's a lot of it just naturally. I also want to see these things, and I hope some of these things to occur, and obviously some of these things are meant to happen in the show!"
The creator reveals her big-picture plan is for a five-season run of Hazbin Hotel. Future installments have received approval by Prime Video and A24, which produce the series.
That might mean viewers have to be patient for some of the biggest payoffs — but they could be shocked at how fast season 2 moves, and how many of what they're anticipating happens this season.
"I feel like people are going to get a lot out of it," she adds. "We get some firsts. I think we get some really amazing reveals, some really cool backstories, and even just simple things, [like] I hope this character gets a song. […] We're going to hear much more singing from the characters we didn't get to hear before."
The creator is well-informed of the theories and desires about season 2 — especially in the form of fan bingo cards.
"I've seen a few fans create a prediction grid about season 2," she says. "Naturally I can't post it, but I've already completed some of them, and almost all of them have almost a bingo. I thought, Oh, if you put this [event] in this spot, it would be a bingo. So that leads me to believe we do a lot [of what fans are waiting for in this season], because I was like, Oh, there's multiple potential bingos on this card. So that brings me joy."
Hazbin Hotel the second season launches on the streaming service on October 29.
